At RainTree Care Services and Senior Residences, we believe that exceptional care is rooted in continuous learning, empathy, and a deep understanding of our residents’ unique needs. Staying true to this care philosophy, members of our clinical and administrative teams participated in a Basic Stimulation Training and Seminar held at the Palms Country Club, led by our Director of Nursing, Cornelia Daubenbuechel.
What is Basic Stimulation?
Basic Stimulation (“Basale Stimulation”) is a holistic care approach that originated in Germany in the 1970s, developed by Professor Dr. Andreas Fröhlich. Initially created to support the development of children with severe disabilities, the method has since been widely adopted in neurological, geriatric, and palliative care across Europe. It is particularly effective for individuals with dementia, stroke, or limited communication and mobility.
The training emphasizes activating the senses, encouraging movement, and fostering communication even in those who may be non-verbal or have restricted awareness. With techniques grounded in touch, sensory stimulation, and attentive observation, Basic Stimulation transforms everyday care into a meaningful human connection.

A Shared Learning Experience
Led by RainTree Care’s very own Director of Nursing Cornelia Daubenbuechel, the session brought valuable insights to both our clinical team and administrative staff. Her background and extensive experience in the Geriatric Care and Nursing fields added depth and authenticity to the training, helping the team understand not only how to apply the method but also why it works, drawing from decades of proven results in European care settings.
For our clinical team, the training provided:
- Practical techniques to apply during daily care routines
- Deeper awareness of non-verbal communication and subtle cues
- New ways to make residents feel safe, engaged, and understood
For our admin staff, the training offered:
- A closer connection to the heart of our care philosophy
- Insights into how behind-the-scene decisions affect resident well-being
- A shared perspective with the clinical team, fostering stronger teamwork and alignment
One of our team members reflected: “The session effectively reconnected us with the core values and purpose of working at RainTree, providing valuable insights and renewed motivation.”
Moving Forward, Together
With this shared foundation, our team is more united than ever in our commitment to empathetic, resident-centered care. By involving both clinical and admin roles, we’re building a culture where everyone understands the importance of stimulation, connection, and dignity no matter their job title.
As RainTree Care Services and Senior Residences continue to grow and evolve, trainings like this ensure that every member of the RainTree family is equipped to support our mission of providing high-quality care grounded in compassion, professionalism, and Filipino values enhanced by international best practices.
