ALZHEIMERS & DEMENTIA CARE IN THE PHILIPPINES
In the recent years more and more organizations and institutions in the Philippines are being established and are exploring new models of care homes for Filipino seniors. While we at RainTree Care truly believe that one of the most important things in caring for seniors is compassion, we feel that it needs more than that to provide dedicated and high-quality care at all times.
To care for those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s can be a challenge not only for the families but also for professional nurses and caregivers. As the geriatric care sector is very new in the Philippines and long-term care knowledge is very limited in the country, we decided to combine Filipino values and compassion with German knowledge and excellence to equip of staff with the right knowledge and tools.
Some of the most famous care models and care experts have its origin in Germany. The history of aged care dates back to the 1960s and is respected worldwide. Germany is also the only country in the world that trains certified geriatric nurses through a vocational course with more than 3500 hours of exposure to geriatric care making them one of the best in the world.
Seniors, especially those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, need very different care than those which are simply sick or have a broken bone. Hence our entire team is trained by our Geriatric Care Expert and Nursing Director, Cornelia Daubenbuechel, to be able to provide professional long-term care to each of our residents.
We focus on a holistic approach for all our residents, including regular physical activities at our pool, social & fun interactions, as well as a wide variety of mental stimulations. We believe our residence does feel like a home and family and our regularly implemented schedule of activities helps to build a feel good environment which our residents can rely upon.
Our care plans are based on scientific approaches from Germany and are customized for each residents’ unique needs and wants. Our care documentation is based on German standard and eases communication with other healthcare institutions and providers.
For us it is important to maintain the character of a family residence, this also gives us the ability to make any adjustments immediately if the needs of our residents change. This approach in combination with our very well trained nurses and caregivers, together with our Director of Nursing and our in-house Geriatrician, Dra. Zamucoco, helps us to achieve amazing results of clients and family satisfaction.
